Bayt al-Fatwa is an online service to help Muslims seeking daily, practical guidance in their daily lives. We provide non-binding legal opinions (fatwas) using a plural, but sound methodology by qualified and licensed muftis. Confidentiality of Fatwa Requests

We understand the sensitive and personal nature of fatwa requests. All questions and details you submit are treated as strictly confidential. Your requests are only accessible to the Mufti assigned to your case and authorized staff members involved in managing the process. We do not publicly share your personal questions or any identifying information.

The Fatwa Bank, a public section of our platform, contains published fatwas for educational purposes. Any fatwas published in the Fatwa Bank are anonymized and do not contain personally identifiable information.

Third-Party Services

We use the following third-party services to operate our platform:

  • Clerk — for user authentication and account management
  • Google OAuth — as an optional sign-in method. When you sign in with Google, we receive your name and email from your Google account
  • Stripe — for secure payment processing. We do not store your credit card details; all payment information is handled directly by Stripe
  • Zoom — for video appointments between you and our Muftis

Each of these services has their own privacy policies that govern how they handle your data. We encourage you to review their respective policies.

Data Security

We implement appropriate technical and organizational measures to protect your personal information from unauthorized access, alteration, disclosure, or destruction. Your password is stored in encrypted form, all data is transmitted over secure connections (HTTPS), and authentication is managed by Clerk, an industry-standard authentication provider.

You have the following rights regarding your personal information:

  • Access and review your personal information through your profile page
  • Request correction of inaccurate information
  • Request deletion of your account and personal data
  • Withdraw consent where processing is based on consent

Data Retention

We store recorded zoom fatwa sessions for 30 days. This is purely for follow up purposes.

Cookies and Tracking

Our platform uses essential cookies required for authentication and maintaining your session. We do not use advertising or third-party tracking cookies.

Children's Privacy

We understand that sometimes your questions concern children. We take this very seriously and apply the highest levels of privacy to protect them. We will not conduct a fatwa session with any underage persons without the physical-digital presences of their guardian and/or parent.
