Introduction

Bayt al-Fatwa is an online service to help Muslims seeking daily, practical guidance in their daily lives. We provide non-binding legal opinions (fatwas) using a plural, but sound methodology by qualified and licensed muftis. The Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and your rights regarding that information.

Description of Services

Bayt al-Fatwa is an online platform that provides the following services:

  • Submitting fatwa requests to qualified Muftis for Islamic religious guidance
  • Booking appointments (video consultations via Zoom) with Muftis
  • Accessing the Fatwa Bank, a public collection of anonymized fatwas for educational purposes
  • Accessing articles, blog posts, and Islamic tools (e.g., Zakat calculator)

Account Registration

To access certain services, you must create an account by providing accurate and complete personal information. You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your account credentials and for all activity that occurs under your account. You must notify us immediately of any unauthorized use of your account.

Fatwa Requests

When submitting a fatwa request, you agree to provide honest and complete information about your situation. Fatwas issued through our platform represent the scholarly opinion of the assigned Mufti based on the information you provide. They are intended as religious guidance and should not be construed as legal advice.

We reserve the right to decline or redirect requests that fall outside the scope of our services.

Appointments

You may book video appointments with our Muftis through the platform. When booking an appointment, you agree to:

  • Attend the appointment at the scheduled date and time
  • Ensure you have a stable internet connection and a functioning device with camera and microphone
  • Conduct yourself with respect and adhere to the etiquette of seeking religious guidance

Payments and Refund Policy

Certain services on our platform, including appointments, may require payment. All payments are processed securely through Stripe. By making a payment, you agree to the following terms:

Cancellation and Refunds

  • More than 24 hours before the appointment: You may cancel and receive a full refund.
  • Less than 24 hours before the appointment: No refund will be issued. The appointment fee is non-refundable once within the 24-hour window.
  • No-show: If you fail to attend a scheduled appointment without prior cancellation, no refund will be provided.
  • Cancellation by Bayt al-Fatwa: If we cancel an appointment due to unforeseen circumstances, you will receive a full refund or the option to reschedule.

Fatwa Request Payments

Payments for fatwa requests are non-refundable once the request has been assigned to a Mufti and processing has begun. If your request has not yet been assigned, you may request a cancellation and refund by contacting us.

Confidentiality

All fatwa requests and appointment discussions are treated as strictly confidential. We do not publicly disclose your personal questions or any identifying information. Fatwas that are published in the Fatwa Bank are generic and anonymized.
